Mommy areas: Racial variations in lesbians’ dating choices for females with kiddies

Recent work indicates that battle is a factor that is critical shaping intimate identities, partner choice, and household development, suggesting there might be racial variations in whether lesbians have young ones during the time that they try to find companions. In this research, we draw on an example of 1,923 lesbians on Match to quantitatively test whether you will find racial variations in dating choices for females with kiddies, underscoring implications for family inequality through racial variations in who has got young ones when searching for a partner. We find that Blacks, Latinas, and Asians are far more likely than Whites never to just have young ones but be open to also dating other females with kids. This shows that competition differentially structures lesbians’ openness to partners with kiddies, and such choices can be a mechanism that is possible racial stratification. (more…)
